At LION, we take advantage of the whole dandelion plant because each part of the plant has its own unique functionality and when combined, make the ultimate homegrown super plant tea.
We found other crazy people who love dandelions almost as much as us and partnered with them to pick our ‘Wild-crafted Dandelion Flowers’. Our wild flowers are picked at the perfect moment and deliver all that the bio-diverse awesomeness of nature has to offer.
Next up, was the root. Dandelion root is one of the only naturally occurring prebiotics in nature and we learned two important facts about them. First, that the root needs two years to mature and; second, that the Inulin (prebiotic fiber in dandelions) is strongest when harvested in the fall. So guess what, we only worked with farms that waited two years to harvest and who also waited until the fall to do so. Are we geniuses or what??
Last up, was the leaf, or horta – “bitter herb” – as Mama and Yia Yia used to call it. This bitter green is, pound for pound, is the mother ship of all leafy greens out there and if you happen to think different, we are up for the challenge.
